BIOINFORMATICS

Biotechnology recently created unique opportunities to manipulate biological systems for the sake of mankind and to understand various fundamental life processes. Biotechnology encompasses newer areas ranges from plant, animal, soil, food to customized medicines.

Transdisciplinary areas such as Bioinformatics, Nano-biotechnology, Genetic engineering, etc. are identified as important areas at the research front.

Bioinformatics is to mean the emerging field of science growing from the application of mathematics, statistics, and information technology, including large datasets. Bioinformatics also collaborate with recently emerging field, the Stemformatics, first time introduce in India, 2016, which is a dazzling part of modern bioinformatics for the future clinical applications, regenerative medicine and resolving mysteries of various dangerous diseases. Proteomics, genomics and transcriptomics are also at the crossroads of bioinformatics.

ORGANIC FARMING

“Responsible innovation that considers the wider impacts on society is to start smart Organic farming”. Agriculture technology revolution is supported by various policy-makers around the world. While smart technologies will play the major role in achieving improved productivity and greater eco-efficiency, critics have suggested that consideration of the social impacts is being side-lined. These innovations also provide social benefits and address potentially negative side-effects. 

Organic farming emphasis on the protection of environment, minimizing soil degradation and erosion, decrease pollution, and optimize biological productivity in term of both quantitatively and qualitatively.

 For farming it is usually use harmful chemical fertilizers that directly effects on human health. To protect various lives HCST utilizing biofertilizers for farming.

Students of biotechnology branch are involved in the production of organic fertilizers using various techniques under the guidance of well-trained faculty members. The organic fertilizers so produced by them are latter on utilize in the organic farming, resulting in the production of organic vegetables, such as cucumbers, tomatoes, spinach, radish, carrot, etc. The practice of organic farming is carried out in well-equipped polyhouse of HCST.
