Overview

Civil Engineering is the basic and most sought after professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally available environment. It includes design, construction and maintenance of essential infrastructural facilities such as bridges, roads, canals, dams and buildings. Civil Engineering practices take place at all levels i.e., in the public sector from municipal to national government and in the private sector from individual homeowners to international companies.

About

The department was established in 2003 with the objective to impart the quality education in the field of Civil Engineering. The Civil Engineering department of Hindustan College of Science & Technology possesses a team of well qualified and experienced faculty and staff members. The department has been well equipped with state of art machinery and equipment for providing the laboratory intensive knowledge.

HOD Message

The aim of the department is to produce quality engineers in the various disciplines of Civil Engineering to meet the challenges by providing sustainable infrastructure development. The department takes the efforts to make the students employable through either getting the jobs in government, public sector and private sector or to work as an entrepreneur. The efforts include interaction with industries, consultancy work, site visits and industrial tours, value-added programs and training courses. The academic activates of the department emphasize deep understanding of fundamental principle and development of creative ability to handle challenges of Civil Engineering. In the previous years, the department has produced many university rankers including two gold- medalists in Civil Engineering discipline. Number of alumni’s are well placed in government, public sector and private sector in India and abroad.

CESA

A students association has been formed by Civil Engineering students named as “Civil Engineering Students Association”. The purpose of the group is reinforce the learning culture in the department by organising activities such as technical/Non-technical Quizs, Technical/Report writing, online competitions, poster competition, model presention, debate and speech competition, cultural/dancing/singing competitions, indoor/outdoor games and social connect activities. The association is independently run by students of Civil Engineering as per their perpetual interest in the field.

This CESA group has organized many programs in the department to inculcate and generate the core compitencies of Civil Enginering. This regularly engaged in the work according to their interest in the feild and practicality. This organised various programs such as Engineers’ Day, TECHNOTHON (series),  Environment Day, Water Day, Online Quiz Competition etc.

Civil Engineering Students Association (CESA)

With the objective of helping students to pursue their hobbies and interests and bring people together, the student clubs are created at the Institute.

Students can unravel their strengths like multitasking, organization skills, team Building skills and leadership skills. The clubs also help in pursuing an old hobby. Networking opportunities are a significant benefit Club members develop bonds among themselves, which help grow their careers.

The founder of club are Mr. AbhinavJaiswal (2003-07) and RajatMaheshwari (2003-07).

The club was formed on date 08.7.2005 the support of Mr. V.K. Gupta (HOD Civil) and Dr. C. L. Malhotra (Dean Academics).

Objectives:

  1. To gain skills in mobilizing community participation.
  2. To acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes.
  3. The club aims to develop the critical thinking and speaking skills of the students.
  4. To form a platform for strengthening industry linkages.
